A video of Kenya Kwanza running mate Rigathi Gachagua concurring that he and mount Kenya people supported deputy president William Ruto because of the love of his money has gone viral.
Gachagua whose selection as a running mate is controversial was speaking in Nandi county during a forum attended by UDA delegates and supporters.
The Mathira MP declared that money was a key factor in breaking the dreadlock of the mountain which is forever been the stronghold of president Uhuru Kenyatta.
The former District Office in the regime of the then-president Daniel Moi , explained that the Deputy President had a plan for the vote-rich mount Kenya region to make more money and pleaded with the voters to support them in the upcoming ninth August election.
“Money is a good thing, it is the key to the heart and the breaker of the Mountain, and because we in the region love money, we chose to support Ruto. He has a plan on how we will get the money, and anyone who has a plan on how we will get money becomes our friend,” he reiterated.
Gachagua opined that Mount Kenya people have not fully appreciated the value of money and promised to educate them on the same during his tour.
Notably, this is not the first time the Kenya Kwanza running mate’s remarks are questionable among the UDA and Kenya Kwanza supporters.

Gachagua shocked many when he ridiculed the Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, claiming that votes from his lower Eastern turf would not benefit their presidential aspirant Ruto.
“Let us speak the truth, votes from Kitui, Makueni, and Machakos only total about 1.5 million. Can those votes really account for anything?” He posed in a video that has since gone viral.
With the controversies on his selection and the growing tension in Kenya kwanza over his selection as the running mate and not Prof Kithuri Kindiki who was best fitted according to many UDA insiders, Gachagua has been struggling to endear himself to voters.
He courageously told of those opposing him, likening selection to picking a wife.
Another surprising remark made by Gachagua was when he declared that bigger corporations like Safaricom should be disbanded and the proceeds are given to small business enterprises.
