A video showing former Kakamega senator Bonny Khaluale engaging in a fistfight with a section of his supporters in Kakamega town has gone viral.

The ordeal took place on May 30 shortly after he was cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC)to vie for the Kakamega senatorial position.

In the clip, the former Senator, who is known for tackling his opponents head-on, is seen engaged in a war of words (and strong sign language) with the unidentified person before getting physical.

The situation escalates quickly and he reaches down to tackle the supporter before his car takes off.

An earlier clip that Khalwale had posted on his social media handle showed him accompanied for the clearance by a brigade of boda boda riders hooting around.

The vocal supporter of the United Democratic Alliance allied to Deputy President William Ruto has had a history of fistfighting with supporters.

At one point during the by-election in Kibra, he was sported carrying a heavy stone ready to launch it on ODM supporters who confronted him during the heated race that saw Imran Okoth trounce MacDonald Mariga.

In that photo, Khalwale, who had refused to leave after orders from rowdy youth, resolved to beat the residents at their own game.

Many expected him to flee but the former Senator decided to stand his ground and fight back. He supported McDonald Mariga in the by-election that sought to replace the late Ken Okoth.

Khalwale will face Orange Democratic Movement’s Brian Lishanga the coming August general election as he seeks to recapture the Senatorial seat.
