Citizen TV’s Denis Otieno emerged runners-up in the television category in the 2021 Open Forum on Agricultural Biotechnology (OFAB) Africa Media Awards.
The business and agricultural affairs reporter was recognized for his story on genetically modified cassava as an alternative food crop in the country.
The event held in Maputo, Mozambique saw Burkina Faso’s Jeremy Quesaogo named the overall winner OFAB Africa Media Awards.
Otieno represented Kenya in the continental event by being named overall winner OFAB Kenya edition in October last year.
Some of his stories aired on the weekly agribusiness segment Smart Farm are aimed at creating awareness on the progress made in the adoption of Biotechnology in the country.
