The Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga will win the presidency in round one if elections were to be held today, an opinion poll by Trends and Insights For Africa has indicated.
This poll released on Wednesday showed that ODM leader Raila Odinga will win the race with 53 percent in 5 days’ time.
This is despite a presidential candidate being required to get 50 percent plus one for him or her to be declared the winner of any presidential election.
Deputy President William Ruto ranks second with 45 percent of those polled as Odinga leads.
This same poll also showed that DP Ruto’s UDA Party is the most preferred at 38 percent followed by ODM at 32 percent and Jubilee at 5 percent.
This new poll comes five days before the August 9 general polls.
Going by the law, Thursday is the final day an opinion poll can be released ahead of the elections.
Kenyans will be required to prepare for the August 9 polls after that day.
