Celebrated sports news anchor, Bernard Ndong is set to make a come-back on the screens with a new show on NTV just days after resigning from Citizen TV.

A trailer released by the Kimathi Street-based media house indicates that Ndong who is a household name in sports news will host a new show dubbed The Big Signing.

The show will be a one-stop desk for all local and international sports news as the media giant seeks to reclaim its spot among Kenya’s leading TV stations.

Ndong resigned from Citizen TV on June 25, 2022, bringing an end to his 13-year stay at the Royal Media Services-owned station.

“It has been 13 years. It has been a journey. Thank you so much, I am humbled. This is Bernard Ndong signing off for the final time,” stated Ndong in his final bulletin at Citizen TV.

A surprise party was thrown for him on his final day at work with then colleagues at Citizen TV celebrating him and recounting his journey.

He started off as a sales executive at the same media house and when an opportunity to host sports news came, he seized it and excelled at it.

Driven by passion and powered by the guidance of experienced hands such as Mike Okinyi, Ndong became a household name in sports journalism.

“We were going to studio to do a screen test for Kirigo Ng’arwa and you asked if you could join and I said yes, please join. I remember it was three weeks of hard training and back and forth and when I finally sent the tape to our then-boss Faridah Karoney, she had no doubts and she said, ‘Take Ndong for sports, Kirigo will join breakfast,’ and the rest is history,” narrated Okinyi.

Ndong also trained and mentored Mukami Wambora who shared her experience working with him writing:

“A lot of people don’t know this, I’m not a trained journalist I just have a passion for sports so I came in completely raw and Mike and Bernard had to teach me how script, how to edit from the very beginning and I have never felt so supported within a team,” Wambora emotionally narrated.
