Popular TV presenter Janet Mbugua has left Citizen TV. The presenter, who is already serving notice at the station has left to join Kenya Red Cross in what is said to be a more lucrative but low profile job.

The move comes as speculations filled the air that she and her co-host Hussein Mohamed were quitting following the entry of the highly paid Jeff Koinange.

Mr. Koinange’s show, JKL Live, is rumoured to be earning him a monthly pay of Sh. 2 million, which is way above what both Hussein and Janet are currently earning.

Although it has also been rumoured that Mr. Mohamed is also planning to quit Citizen, it remains to be seen whether he will carry out with a similar move or negotiate for a better pay.

Even more interesting will be how Citizen TV will find him a new co-host, with the current news anchors falling below Janet’s calibre.

At Red Cross, Janet will reportedly be in charge of communications and advocacy.
