The outgoing Murang’a County governor Mwangi Wa Iria has finally demanded that he be given a Cabinet slot if Azimio wins in the August general elections.
While speaking today after he joined the Raila Odinga-led coalition party, Wa Iria said that it was the only way he could help the people of Murang’a County ahead of the polls.
Mwangi further asked his supporters to rally behind him claiming that he is their leader and they had no one in the upcoming general elections.
Wa Iria further urged his followers to vote for the Azimio presidential candidate to ensure he gets all the Mt Kenya votes to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“If I get cabinet, we shall resolve all the issues. I will perpetuate all the programmes which I have. We shall protect, multiply and take them to other regions because I have the knowledge and support of my people. We shall demand that Raila gives me a cabinet position,” Wa Iria stated.

Wa Iria further affirmed that together with Azimio presidential running mate Martha Karua and Agriculture CS Peter Munya, they shall drive the vote-rich Mt Kenya region behind Raila.
This new move by the Usawa Kwa Wote party leader comes after the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) barred him from running for the presidency in the general elections.
As for the IEBC, the governor had been locked out of the August presidential contest because he did not meet the requirements to contest for the position.
Governor Wa Iria filed a petition at the Supreme Court protesting the move by IEBC adding that he would convert his party into a resistance movement if IEBC did not clear him in the race.
