Faith Kipyegon Bags First Gold For Kenya In Oregon

Celebrated Kenyan runner Faith Kipyegon won the first gold medal for Kenya in the ongoing World Championships in Oregon, United States of America.

Faith Kipyegon stamped her authority on the women’s 1,500m final almost from the start and emerged victorious clocking 3:52.96 minutes on the track.

Kipyegon retained the title she won in Doha in 2019 as Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay took silver in 3:54.52 while Great Britain’s Laura Muir settled for the bronze in 3:55.26 in the same race.

The vividly jovial Kipyegon addressed the press after winning the media saying,” I have to say I am thankful for my second gold medal. I knew it was going to be fast so I was well prepared for that. Now I really want to get a new personal best.”

It was also Kipyegon’s fourth gold medal in the 1,500, with silvers in 2015 and 2019 years.
