The Police on Wednesday night shot dead two thugs after they were nabbed attacking a man in Njiru, Nairobi.
These thugs had attempted to escape when the police fired at them killing the two on instantly.
They were in a group of a six-man gang that has been terrorizing the Kayole residents, with the four others managing to escape with gunshot wounds.
“They had just knifed a man who was walking home leaving him sprawled on the ground in a pool of blood after taking away the victim’s mobile phone and other valuables,” DCI Boss George Kinoti said.
The two police officers on patrol got wind of the attack and acted swiftly in restoring order after the victim raised an alarm leading to the shootout.

“Luckily, two officers based at Soweto police station who were on foot patrol responded to the distress calls on time, as the boisterous gang took leave casually, having accomplished their mission,” he said.
This group then refused to surrender and instead opted to take on the officers in a shootout, that left two of their colleagues dead.
“They came face to face with two officers compelling the thugs to immediately open fire sending the officers to a prone position, as they responded to the provocation in equal measure. “
As for the DCI boss George Kinoti, the four others who escaped sustained gunshot wounds in the process.
Police were able to recover from the suspects, one gun and a bloodstained knife.
This injured victim was then rushed to the hospital as the bodies of the thugs were moved to the city mortuary pending identification from their relatives.
